探秘炼胶过程:硅胶的“和面”与“健身”哲学

如果你以为硅胶从化工厂出来都是软软的胶块,那你就把问题想简单了。固态硅橡胶生胶刚从聚合釜中产出时,纯度虽高,却像手无缚鸡之力的弱书生,机械强度极差,轻轻一拉就断裂。想要把原生胶料加工成手机壳、密封垫圈这类实用制品,必须经过精密繁复的炼胶工序

If you think that silicone comes out of the chemical plant as soft gel blocks, then you are oversimplifying the matter. When solid silicone rubber in its raw state is first produced from the polymerization reactor, although its purity is high, it is like a weak scholar with no strength, with extremely poor mechanical properties, breaking easily under slight tension. To process the raw rubber into practical products such as phone cases or sealing gaskets, it must undergo precise and complex rubber refining procedures.

炼胶流程,行内人常戏称为 “橡胶行业的和面”,但它绝非简单加水搅拌,而是一场高精度的物理混配加工。主料是高纯聚硅氧烷生胶,核心辅料为补强填料 —— 多采用比表面积极高的气相法白炭黑。生胶在开炼机或真空捏合机内持续翻动,轻盈雪白的白炭黑粉末,依靠设备强大的机械剪切力,均匀穿插分散到生胶分子链缝隙中。整套工序需要全程严格控温,设备摩擦产生的热量会快速抬升胶料温度,高温会直接影响填料分散效果。

The rubber mixing process is jokingly called ‘making dough in the rubber industry,’ but it’s far from just adding water and stirring. It’s actually a high-precision physical mixing operation. The main ingredient is high-purity polydimethylsiloxane raw rubber, and the key additive is reinforcing filler—usually high-surface-area fumed silica. The raw rubber is continuously tumbled in an open mixer or vacuum kneader, while the light, white fumed silica powder is evenly dispersed into the gaps of the rubber molecules thanks to the machine’s strong mechanical shearing force. The whole process requires strict temperature control because the heat generated by friction can quickly raise the rubber’s temperature, and high heat directly affects how well the filler disperses.

把白炭黑充分混入生胶只是第一道工序。填料颗粒表面密布大量羟基,会与生胶分子形成强氢键作用力,造成胶料僵硬、松散呈豆腐渣状,难以后续加工,这是硅胶行业工程师长期需要解决的 “结构化” 问题。为缓解结构化,炼胶中后期会精准投放计量好的结构化控制剂(主流为羟基硅油),利用羟基硅油与白炭黑表面羟基发生反应,封闭活性羟基,削弱填料与生胶之间的氢键吸附,让胶料恢复顺滑可加工的状态。

Fully mixing precipitated silica into natural rubber is only the first step in the process. The filler particles are covered with a large number of hydroxyl groups on their surfaces, which can form strong hydrogen bonds with the rubber molecules, causing the compound to become stiff, loose, and resemble tofu curd, making subsequent processing difficult. This is a “structuring” problem that silicone industry engineers have long needed to address. To alleviate structuring, a precisely measured amount of a structuring control agent (mainstream being hydroxy silicone oil) is added in the later stages of rubber mixing. The hydroxy silicone oil reacts with the hydroxyl groups on the surface of the precipitated silica, blocking active hydroxyl groups, weakening the hydrogen bond adsorption between the filler and the rubber, and restoring the compound to a smooth and processable state.

混炼工序完成后,会根据胶料品类添加对应的交联体系:固体高温硫化硅胶会加入过氧化物硫化剂;而液态硅胶制品采用铂金催化加成型体系,铂金催化剂不会在炼胶阶段混入,而是分置于 A、B 两组分中,成型前再按比例混合交联,多用于食品级、医疗级高端硅胶产品。

After the mixing process is completed, the corresponding crosslinking system is added according to the type of silicone material: solid high-temperature vulcanized silicone rubber is combined with a peroxide curing agent; liquid silicone rubber products use a platinum-catalyzed addition curing system. The platinum catalyst is not incorporated during the mixing stage, but is separately placed in components A and B, and mixed in the appropriate ratio before molding for crosslinking. This method is primarily used for high-end food-grade and medical-grade silicone products.

一套标准规范的炼胶工序完成后,原本绵软无力的原生胶,会转化为表面光洁、可塑性优异的成品混炼胶。整个过程不只是简单提升胶料强度,更是对填料分散均匀度的严苛考验。一旦白炭黑分散不均,后续压制成型硅胶密封件时,制品内部会产生应力集中区域,使用中容易开裂、漏气。

After a complete set of standardized rubber mixing procedures, the originally soft and weak raw rubber is transformed into a finished compounded rubber with a smooth surface and excellent plasticity. The entire process is not merely a simple enhancement of the rubber’s strength, but also a rigorous test of the uniformity of filler dispersion. If the silica is dispersed unevenly, stress concentration areas may form inside the silicone rubber seals during subsequent molding, making the products prone to cracking and leakage during use.

因此评判一家硅胶工厂的工艺水准,不用看花哨的成品样品,只需去到炼胶车间,听炼胶机平稳规律的运转声,观察辊面通透、质地均匀的胶片,工艺水平高下一目了然。

Therefore, to assess the technical level of a silicone factory, there is no need to look at fancy finished samples; one only needs to go to the rubber refining workshop, listen to the steady and rhythmic operation of the rubber refining machines, and observe the translucent, uniformly textured rubber sheets. The quality of the craftsmanship becomes immediately apparent.
