The main component of silicone is polysiloxane, whose backbone is composed of alternating silicon and oxygen atoms. This unique molecular structure gives it a dual nature: it is both heat-resistant like inorganic glass and flexible and elastic like organic rubber. From minus 60°C to 250°C, ordinary rubber would have long since either cracked from the cold or melted, yet silicone products can still operate with ease, which enables them to perform exceptionally in many extreme applications.

This explains why newborn pacifiers, baking spatulas, and even catheters implanted in the human body prefer to use food-grade silicone, which is produced under strict raw material control.

What looks like just a simple piece of clear rubber is actually a perfect blend of material science and manufacturing techniques.
